In this article, I’m sharing my favorite tips on how to create a teen room that screams 90s decor.

Getting a Feel of the 90s

The 1990s was a decade of diverse and iconic music, with pop, grunge, alternative, and hip-hop. Most importantly, there was an explosion of pop and R&B with the rise of girl and boy bands. Nothing says 90s teen room decor more than a wall plastered with your favorite artists.

Recreate the look with printouts of your favorite artists, like Spice Girls, Nirvana, Britney Spears, and Destiny’s Child.

Transform your space with this Album Art Poster Decoration Kit! Includes 100 vibrant posters and 224 glue dots to create a unique look that’s all yours. Perfect for adding color and personality to any room! (note that this includes 2000s music as well)

90s Teen Magazines

Before the internet became widely adopted, teen magazines were all the rage. Teens looked forward to the next issue of Seventeen, Tiger Beat, or Teen People. Teen magazines provided all the celebrity news, fashion, and beauty trends, plus so much more.

Create a room with issues of 90s magazines as coffee table books or design your own magazine cover statement wall, like Vogue.

90s Polaroid Decor

Polaroids were a huge phenomenon in the 90s, making it easy to capture moments with friends. Evoke some 90s nostalgia in your room by investing in a Polaroid camera and capturing all your unedited moments.

A Polaroid wall is a great way to showcase your moments and create an aesthetically pleasing room. Get string lights with clips to hang your Polaroids.

90s Landline

Using a landline phone as 90s decor is a nostalgic nod to the past. Place a vintage landline phone on a bedside table or desk, and suddenly you’re transported back to a time of dial-up internet and phone cords.

Take it a step further by using a phone with a fun and colorful design, like a neon-colored lip phone or a retro-themed Disney phone.

This cute Lip Shaped Phone is a great decor piece. It also comes in pink and purple. Note this phone is best used a a decor piece only .

Add some vintage phone books or Yellow Pages to the nearby shelf, and you’ve got a rad 90s-inspired vignette.

The Era of CDs

Using CDs as 90s decor is a creative way to pay homage to the iconic music format of the decade.

Hang CDs on the wall using string or twine, creating a makeshift mobile or wind chime that adds a touch of nostalgia to the space.

You can also display favorite albums on a CD rack or tower, showcasing beloved artists and albums like Britney Spears, NSYNC, or Nirvana

Old Cameras and Film

Here’s a more detailed look at using old cameras and film, retro keyboards and mice, and old gaming consoles as 90s retro tech decor:

Display vintage camera on a shelf or hang old camera straps on the wall or use them as a unique decorative piece
